Group encounter

What happens when the quadrant opens an encounter with more than one wild esva at once.

reviewed 8 August 2026

What it is

Sometimes the quadrant opens an encounter with more than one wild esva at once. Group size is random, and the encounter applies knockback.

How I do it

What changes in your run when the encounter opens as a group:

  1. Walk the quadrant as usualA group encounter is not sought out: it opens in place of an ordinary encounter.in gameMap → Incursion → Quadrantevery encounter
  2. Let the cycle run and expect knockbackNothing changes in the controls: the front esva keeps cycling the four moves. Knockback displaces whoever is on the field, inside the encounter itself.
  3. If all six fall, go backWith the whole party down, you return to the Home Post and heal at no cost before heading out again.in gameHome Post

What is missing: The ceiling on group size, what triggers a group encounter, and who takes the knockback and in which direction.

What already holds: Group encounters exist, size is random, knockback happens, and combat stays automatic.

What I get — and what it costs

What I get
Group encounterMore than one wild esva in the same encounter, resolved by the same automatic combat, with no extra input. It is neither chosen nor forced: group size is random and knockback comes with it.
What it costs
Size is not chosenThe group is drawn at the moment the encounter opens. There is no size adjustment or filter.Knockback is part of the encounterThe displacement happens inside automatic combat. You have no input on it.
