What it is

The glossary gathers the ESVA terms into a single form. It exists so that the same word means the same thing across the wiki and inside the game. The term is here; the live value of each table is in the game.

How I do it

Each entry carries the term and the definition in use.

  1. esvacreature that is measured, contained and registered; base unit of the game.
  2. deviationa reading outside the normal range in a quadrant; it announces an esva.
  3. containmentthe act of closing a measured esva into a flask; the result goes to the Register.
  4. bandthe grade band an esva falls into once measured.
  5. incursiona map region; there are 9 incursions.
  6. quadranta subdivision of an incursion where the deviation appears; there are 90 quadrants.
  7. Orderthe institution the player answers to; it issues mandates and Aval.
  8. Postthe player base; it gives access to the Register, the collection and the Market.
  9. collectionwhere every esva that is not in the party is kept.
  10. partythe 6 esvas that go into the field with the player.
  11. apparatusgear the esva carries; its effect falls into a capped category.
  12. flaskconsumable used to contain a measured esva.
  13. movethe esva combat action; each esva carries 4 moves.
  14. classthe esva family; there are 13 classes and each has its own drop row.
  15. Chainan unbroken run of registered actions; it breaks when the run is interrupted.
  16. Edge Casea species alone in its own family: it sits outside the Chain and does not advance along it; it is the only esva that ruptures.
  17. Surplusthe part of an effect that goes past the category cap and does not count.
  18. Rupturethe Edge Case's combat transformation: while the Rupture Reagent sits in the apparatus slot, it holds the ruptured form. No other esva takes it.
  19. Driftthe slow displacement of deviations between quadrants over time.
  20. Registerthe game ledger: it holds measurements, containments and the reference tables.
  21. Avalan authorization issued by the Order that releases restricted functions; it is noted in the Register.
  22. Créditothe internal unit of the game, used in the Market and with the NPC. Money goes into the game; money does not come out.
  23. seala mark that fixes an item origin and state; an item with a binding seal is not traded.
  24. Marketthe trading floor between players; the floor is the NPC price.
  25. Cavernclosed content in 4 tiers, entered from the incursion map.
  26. Breacha temporary opening in a quadrant that gives access to closed content.
  27. Expeditionsending esvas into the field for a stretch of time without the player present.
  28. Raidan encounter for a party of up to 3 players.
  29. Censorthe function that audits the Register and applies the category caps.

In development

What is missing: the values some terms point to — cap, odd, price — do not appear in the glossary.

What already holds: the term and the definition hold in the seven languages; the live value stays on the matching screen inside the game.

What I get — and what it costs

What I get
locked vocabularyone term, one meaning, across the wiki and in the seven languages.the glossary defines the term; what publishes value is the game screen.
What it costs
Term here, value in the gamethe glossary does not replace the table; no value is published here.A system not live enters without a step-by-stepa term from a system that is not live yet enters with the closed-design definition and no step-by-step.
